Consignor FAQ

Who can become a consignor?

Anyone can consign their items.

What are the benefits of being a consignor?

Consignors receive 70% of all sold items. Consignors are also given 2 passes at drop off for the Private Presale, one for you and two for a friends/family. Consignors get to shop the 50% off Private Presale also.

Do consignors have an item limit?

Yes, 15 items minimum unless you have furniture or equipment.

Do consignors have an item maximum?

No. If you have more than 100 items, please plan to drop off on the very first day of the drop off schedule if possible!

Is there a fee to consign?

Yes, an $12 consignor fee is deducted from your FINAL total sales. There is no money out of pocket for you.

Do consignors get to shop early?

Yes, all consignors receive early shopping passes for regular and half price sale!

How do I sign up to become a consignor and get a number?

Click on "Register & Consignor Portal" from the Top Menu.

How should I price my items?

A good rule of thumb is 1/3 of the original price. (i.e., if you paid $70 for that boutique outfit, price it at $20 or LOWER) Remember, this is resale. Most shoppers are looking for quality items at a fraction of the cost. Few people will spend half of the original cost.

I have some items that are too big for a Ziploc bag, what do I do?

Please place these items in a Ziploc BIG bag. We have seen far too many great things NOT sell because of poor packaging. Securely package and label all items!

Should I iron my clothes?

Wrinkled clothes do not sell! We will likely send them home if they are extremely wrinkled. Please do what is necessary to make sure your clothes are look clean and neat.

I do not smoke but my clothes have been stored in a tote and has a small odor. Is this okay?

We will not accept ANY clothing that has an odor of any kind. When it is hung on the rack with other clothes, the odor spreads. We must be sensitive to others allergies and we absolutely can not sell anything with smoke odor, pet odor, or any other kind of odor. Clothing with pet hair will not be accepted either.

What do I need at drop off?

You will need to allow 30 min to an hour for drop off, especially if you come on the last 2 days. In addition to all your items, you will need to be organized! You need to have all clothing items sorted by SIZE & GENDER before you come! If you do not sort them, you will have to wait longer for an empty rack to sort your items once you arrive.

How do I secure small pieces with toys or equipment?

Place them in a Ziploc bag and then seal the Ziploc with clear packing tape. Please write your consignor number only with a permanent marker to the outside of the Ziploc.

Tagging Service

What you do:

  • Gather your unwanted and outgrown items that are recall “free” and in excellent condition.

  • SORT your items by GENDER & SEASON. (Ex: All girls clothing & shoes that are SPRING/SUMMER OR All boys clothing & shoes that are FALL/WINTER.)

  • LABEL your bags or boxes with your name or consignor number AND what it is. (Ex: GIRLS SUMMER CONS #0101)

  • Schedule a meet up time to drop off your items.

  • Pick up your check or have it mailed!

What we do:

  • Hang, bag, and group all items.

  • Enter all items into tagging system with price, size and description.

  • Barcode items.

  • Drop off at sale location.

  • Donate or sort items for storage.

We also provide all of our own supplies, such as but not limited to:

  • hangers

  • safety pins

  • tagging guns

  • tagging barbs

  • tape

  • plastic baggies

  • printer ink

  • cardstock

  • labels

  • zip ties

  • rubber bands

Costs:

There is no cost to the consignor upfront or out of pocket. Our taggers will tag and prepare every item you drop off (that is in “sellable” condition) but will only get paid on what actually sells.  As a consignor you will still be responsible for the $12 consignor fee that will be automatically deducted from your earnings check.

Once BFAW (Kid’s Zone or Grown Zone) takes their portion; 30% for consignors who choose  to not volunteer; then you split your net earnings check with the tagger 50/50.  The “Taggers” are not employees of BFAW and is only doing contract work therefore the sale percentage itself is not effected.

Example:

Gross Sales – KZ/GZ Percentage (30%) – Consignor Fee ($12) = Net Sales divided by 2.

RECAP:
All consignors receive 70% of gross sales.

All consignors can choose to volunteer and earn higher percentages and earlier shopping times! See the “VOLUNTEER” page for more details.

This service is extremely popular and in HIGH demand. If you are interested, please email me today to schedule your appointment as the availability is limited.

Please be aware that once you register for a VIP consignor number, that consignor number will be VIP for life. If you ever decide to tag for yourself, you will be required to re-register and re-enter your own items with a NEW consignor number. This is the only fair option to ensure the tagger receives their full pay for the work they did each season.
